Jim is a strategic-leadership
and business-intelligence coach, community-development
consultant with academic and industry training in Conflict Resolution and
Negotiation. Jim has more than 20 years of experience developing
businesses, people and organizational systems.
He is co- founder of
Urban Strategies, Inc., and the founding principal of Sector
Management Consulting Group, LLC, a Milwaukee-Based Leadership, Organizational
and Community-Development Consulting firm.
Before starting these companies in
2003, Jim served as the Senior Director of Government and Community Relations
for Milwaukee’s largest quasi-governmental agency, as well as a Market Analyst/Program
Director for local communications companies.
Over the past 15 years,
Jim has provided leadership coaching, designing systems and strategies
that foster individual and organizational alignment. He has worked with CEOs, CFOs,
Risk-Management Officers, Chief Learning Officers, HR Directors, Boards of
Directors and supervisors/mid-level managers in succession and/or
Jim’s coaching incorporates an
evidence-based approach that merges science, observation and personal
reflective strategies to support social and management solutions. Through this
process, he has effected rapid personal and professional growth for people and
Jim has designed talent-management workshops,
planned and implemented business acquisition and merger strategies. He has
served on discussion panels for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development, the State of Wisconsin, National Community Action Partners
and the Workforce Investment Board, as well as guest lecturing at Marquette
University, UWM, Rockford College, Alverno College and Cardinal Stritch University
on such topics as Team Building, Mentoring, Diversity, Business Life Cycle and
Inter-Generational Organizational Change.
In addition, Jim has provided
strategic planning and implementation systems for Community-Based Organizations,
as well as for such fee-based entities as Froedtert & the Medical
College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Public Schools and We Energies-Power
He has served as a member of the Board of
Directors of the Downtown Milwaukee Rotary International and of the
Milwaukee Metropolitan Association of Commerce; Chair of the Governance
Committee of the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation; and First
Vice President of the African American Chamber of Commerce, as well as Board Chair of
Urban Strategies, Inc., and Feeding America of Southeastern Wisconsin.
Jim is a member of and certified by the International
Coach Academy, the International Coaching Federation, the
American Society for Training and Development and the Society for Human
Resource Management. He is also a current member of the International
Franchising Association and the International Business Brokers Association,
He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees with a focus on
organizational leadership, communications and business-development administration
(finance and human services).
